TLC has welcomed Kristin Feldman as Director of Walden School.
Feldman received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bay Path University in Longmeadow and is a graduate of Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.
“Kristin brings an extensive background in deaf youth residential programs, including our top priority of ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all youth,” said TLC Chief Operating Officer Karen Bishop. “She is also well-informed about state and licensing agencies, accreditation, and assessing behavioral plans for students. We are excited to welcome her as part of our leadership team at Walden School and TLC!”
Prior to joining TLC, Feldman held various roles within the residential program at American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, CT. Her experience includes extensive supervision of residential and student life programs, as well as experience in conflict resolution and crisis management.
Kristin holds professional memberships with the Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletics Association, and the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs.
Walden School is a nationally-recognized residential and therapeutic program for deaf youth ages 7-22. Walden School students have often experienced significant adverse childhood events, as well as language deprivation, resulting in mental health challenges, and have treatment needs that have not been successfully addressed in other academic and residential settings. The Learning Center for the Deaf is one of only two programs in the country to provide this specific, trauma-based, and academic structure for deaf adolescents.
