Under the Department of Communication and Access, our Interpreting Services includes practicing in a variety of settings, including educational, medical and therapeutic. Our Deaf interpreters have extensive training in utilizing their native knowledge of ASL for assessment and specialized situations. These assignments require nuanced translations that contain cultural, visual, tactile and linguistic elements. We also provide information regarding the Deaf Community, how to work with interpreters, and how to make communication more accessible.
We firmly believe in fostering the growth and professional development of our interpreters. Through workshops, specialized training and mentorships with veteran interpreters, they will continue to expand their skills and build expertise.
