Uzma Wahid has been selected to create a sculpture representing TLC as part of the Framingham Centre Common Cultural District (FCCCD) community art project.
“Many Cultures, One Heart" is a public art project designed to celebrate cultures and ethnicities through a series of heart sculptures placed around the city of Framingham.
Growing up in Karachi, Pakistan, Uzma went to an art institute and was an in-house artist for Pakistan International Airlines for 20 years. Now, living in the United States, she does artwork and paintings as a hobby while working in retail.
Uzma says she is interested in creating a heart sculpture that represents all ages, races, genders, national origins and income levels. She previously created art for the City of Cambridge to use on a construction site for public housing.
Uzma currently lives in Cambridge. She has two children who attended Marie Philip School and feels very connected to the town of Framingham.
According to FCCCD, The statues will be unveiled on Centre Common on June 18, 2022 during a multicultural festival before being installed in their permanent homes.
