Marie Philip School Welcomes John Jarrett as Assistant Principal

The Learning Center for the Deaf  has named John Jarrett as the Assistant Principal for the Marie Philip School (MPS) Secondary Department. 

John received his Educational Leadership and Education Specialist certificate from the University of New Mexico and his Master’s in Special Education/Deaf Education from the University of Tennessee.

John has worked at three Deaf schools, most recently Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, where he was a High School Teacher and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Coach.

He also worked at the New Mexico School for the Deaf and Louisiana School for the Deaf. He has experience in both middle and high school classrooms, teaching ELA and Social Studies while coaching and sponsoring numerous student-led activities and groups.

John is passionate about fostering a school culture that emphasizes continuous improvement. He leverages innovative teaching strategies and collaborative approaches to enhance student engagement and academic success.

John will work closely with middle/high school staff, students, teachers, and counselors to develop a culture of inclusion and support while managing the day-to-day needs of the student population.
