Marie Philip & Walden Schools Clinch 2024 ESDAA Division 1 Basketball Championships

Marie Philip and Walden Schools (MPWS) at The Learning Center for the Deaf have clinched the 2024 Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletic Association (ESDAA) Division 1 Basketball Championship for Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys at their respective Tournaments during the month of February.

The boys’ team defeated Lexington School for the Deaf to clinch this year’s title, bringing home the championship for the second time since 2020.

Xavier DeLeon, Stokely Karp, Andrew Riebe, and Jeremy Novas were named All Star Players. Novas was also named Championship Game MVP. The Varsity Coaches are Justin Carrus and Roland Demers.

The girls were also victorious, bringing home back-to-back ESDAA championships with their win over Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. Solina Rampino, Anya Sukhovtsev, and Stella Ciulla were named All Stars for the tournament. The Varsity Coaches are Amanda Geffen and Emily Larose.

MPWS Galloping Ghosts have been on a roll over the past two school years, bringing home back-to-back ESDAA trophies in Soccer, Volleyball, and Girls Basketball, in addition to Boys Basketball this year.
