The Learning Center for the Deaf (TLC) has welcomed Nathan Engel as its new Director of Athletics and After School Programs.
Nathan brings more than seven years experience to TLC. He received his Master’s in Sports Business from San Diego State University. He is a two-time NDIAA Coach of the Year in soccer, and currently serves as Secretary for the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association, as well as President for the Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletic Association.
A proud New Yorker, Nathan is also father to two children who attend Marie Philip School.
The Athletics Director supports all Marie Philip School and Walden School students and families who participate in the MPWS athletics program. The Galloping Ghosts have a long history of ESDAA and NDIAA championships and awards, including basketball, soccer, and volleyball, and have participated in a number of tournaments with other Deaf and private schools across New England. In October, TLC will host the ESDAA Division 1 Soccer Tournament, where seven other Deaf schools have been invited to play.
Nathan will also oversee year-round after school activities for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12, including arts and crafts, soccer, Special Olympics, and track and field.
In addition to Nathan, the TLC Athletics Department includes Traci Matuszak, After School Programs Coordinator.
